Karni Sena chief Makrana detained in Ahmedabad; later released

Ahmedabad: The Sarkhej Police today detained Mahipal Singh Makrana, National President of Shri Rajput Karni Sena, upon his arrival in the city. He was later released around 5 pm. Makrana had earlier stated that he was coming to Gujarat to support the agitation of the Kshatriya community, who are demanding the withdrawal of Parshottam Rupala’s candidature as the BJP candidate from the Rajkot seat over his remarks.

A large number of people from the Kshatriya community also took out a Maha rally in the Bahumali Chowk area of Rajkot to protest Rupala’s candidature. The community also protested against the detention of Makrana.

Before being detained from Samarpan Bungalows, Makrana, while talking to the media, said, “Paresh Rawal (in some earlier issue) was forgiven after receiving a slap; after a slap, we forgave him, as after the slap, the loose wires become right… Rupalaji will also be alright after he gets 2-3 slaps.”

“Karni Sena has a presence in 24 states from Gujarat to Assam. If someone thinks RSS is in every area, then Karni Sena is also similar. I have been a swayam sevak of RSS since childhood. We have built Karni Sena on that basis, and we know how to convince people by going door to door,” he added.

After arriving in Ahmedabad, Makrana was on his way to meet the Kshatriya women who were part of the agitation. However, before he could meet them, the police detained him along with some of his supporters. Makrana was also supposed to go to Rajkot amidst the Kshatriya protest against Union Minister Parshottam Rupala. However, the police detained him before he could proceed to Rajkot or meet with the women participating in the agitation. DeshGujarat
