District-level events were launched by various ministers, members of Parliament, members of the Legislative Assembly, and other notable guests. Over 2.5 lakh farmers are expected to participate statewide.
On this occasion, a booklet showcasing the various schemes of the agriculture department was also released. The tradition of honouring farmers who have increased crop production with their unique expertise through the Sardar Patel Agricultural Research Award was initiated by PM Modi. Continuing this tradition, 12 progressive farmers from the state were honoured with awards for their exemplary work, and they were also provided with the benefits of various welfare schemes for farmers.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated the Krishi Mahotsav in 2005 to facilitate direct interaction between farmers, agricultural scientists, and experts. The initiative addresses farmers’ challenges, offers guidance, introduces advanced farming techniques, and tailors research to farmers’ needs.
The two-day event will feature technical seminars, demonstrations on natural farming, exhibitions of modern agricultural technologies, visits to natural farming model farms, and Pashu Arogya Camps (animal health camps). Experts from agricultural universities will offer insights on a range of topics, including natural and sustainable farming, value addition in crops, mixed farming, precision farming, modern techniques, millet crop value addition, and animal husbandry practices. Area-specific crop guidance sessions and a platform for farmers’ queries will also be available throughout the event.
At the inauguration of Ravi Krishi Mahotsav 2024 in Dantiwada, an agricultural exhibition was opened. Stalls showcasing modern agricultural technology, innovations, organic farming produce, and various agricultural topics were set up, providing valuable information. While sharing pictures of the exhibitions organised under the Kisan Mahotsav, the CM urged people to visit, calling it “very beneficial to farmers.” DeshGujarat
