Vadodara: A local court in Vadodara has sent Karlibag car accident case accused Rakshit Chaurasia to further two days remand. One woman was dead and 7 others were injured after Rakshit visibly drugged and hit three vehicles on Friday night. As the one-day remand ended today, the police produced him in court again and sought further remands. The court approved an extension of his remand for two more days.
The police, while seeking further remand, mentioned that Rakshit had used the words “Nikita” and “another round” after the accident, and the police need to inquire into it. The court accepted the request.
Meanwhile, Vadodara Lok Sabha MP Dr. Hemang Joshi today raised questions about the media byte given by 23-year-old accused Rakshit Chaurasia when he is in police custody.
Dr. Joshi said, “The accused is shamelessly talking to the media as if he is Shah Rukh Khan giving a byte to the paparazzi. It has caused me great pain. We saw his true face when the accident happened. I have also spoken to the police commissioner, and he has assured me that action will be taken against the police personnel involved in this matter. The probe is ongoing, and efforts are being made to ensure the accused receives strict punishment.”
Later, the police commissioner acknowledged, “During the probe, certain instances came to light where standard norms were violated, such as allowing the accused to give interviews to external media, which is a deviation from standard procedure. The police personnel involved in this breach have been transferred from their respective police stations to the traffic branch. Three Assistant Sub-Inspectors have been transferred.”
Karelibaug police have registered a culpable homicide offense against the accused, Rakshit Chaurasia. A case has been filed under BNS Sections 105, 281, 125(a), 125(b), and 324(5) in this case. In another interesting development, Rakshit, who has been behaving very cunningly since his arrest, complained about health problems, following which he was taken to a hospital for a medical checkup. He was also taken to the place of the accident for crime scene reconstruction. Meanwhile, a local who was present at the time of the accident on the spot told a local news channel that when the accident happened, a liquor bottle and padikis of Ganja (weed) were found in the car.
