Flyover Planned to Connect East and West Nadiad, Addressing Traffic Congestion
March 25, 2025
Nadiad: An infrastructure project is set to transform Nadiad’s connectivity with the announcement of a new flyover designed to link the city’s east and west areas. The flyover, planned over the Shreyas Garna Railway Line, aims to alleviate the persistent traffic congestion on Santram Road, a major thoroughfare experiencing daily traffic of over 20,000 to 25,000 people.
The Nadiad Municipal Corporation, since its establishment, has been focusing on enhancing civic amenities. This flyover, a multi-crore project, is a key component of these efforts. Detailed maps and planning for the flyover have already been completed.
Santram Road, a crucial artery in Nadiad, suffers from severe congestion due to the high volume of daily traffic. To mitigate this, Nadiad MLA Pankaj Desai has appealed to the state government’s Urban Development Department for an additional ₹80 crore grant to extend the flyover to Paras Circle.
Desai highlighted Nadiad’s status as the district hub of Kheda, emphasizing the need for improved infrastructure, including roads, drainage, water supply, and flyovers. The state government has already allocated substantial funds for various development projects in the city.
The proposed flyover will terminate at the Santram Road junction. However, extending it to Paras Circle would create a continuous flyover along the entire length of Santram Road, significantly easing traffic flow. Due to the high traffic volume, widening the existing road is not feasible, making the flyover a crucial solution to address the congestion. The additional ₹80 crore requested from the state government will be vital for this extension. DeshGujarat
