Heat scorches Gujarat; mercury crosses 41°C in Ahmedabad, Rajkot, other cities

Ahmedabad: Temperatures climbed sharply across Gujarat on Monday, with Ahmedabad recording a maximum of 41.2°C, about 7°C above normal, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The city’s minimum temperature was 21.8°C, nearly 3.9°C above normal.
Meanwhile, Rajkot and Surendranagar recorded the highest temperatures in the state at 41.6°C each. They were followed by Kandla Port (41.4°C), Ahmedabad (41.2°C), Deesa (41.1°C) and Keshod (40.8°C).
Gandhinagar and Surat both registered 40.6°C, while Vadodara and Bhuj recorded 40.4°C. Amreli reported 40.5°C.
Coastal areas remained relatively cooler due to the sea breeze effect. Dwarka recorded 28.4°C, Okha 29.2°C, and Veraval 31.2°C, while Porbandar reported 37.8°C and Daman 37°C.
During the last 24 hours, hot and humid weather prevailed over Gujarat, Saurashtra-Kutch, and the Union Territories of Diu, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli. Maximum temperatures remained above to markedly above normal in several places, while minimum temperatures also increased in parts of Gujarat and Saurashtra-Kutch.
Additionally, the IMD has predicted clear skies in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, with the maximum temperature likely to remain around 41°C and the minimum close to 22°C. DeshGujarat
