Ahmedabad Student Killing: Principal of Seventh Day School Booked

Ahmedabad: Two days after a Class 10 student, Nayan Santani, was killed after being stabbed by another student of the school, the Ahmedabad City Crime Branch today announced that it has registered a case against the principal and school administration. Action was initiated following a complaint by the deceased boy’s father, alleging a delay in reporting the incident to the police.

Meanwhile, the accused minor has been presented before the Juvenile Justice Court and placed in a child correctional facility.

ACP Crime Branch Bharat Patel confirmed that the preliminary probe has revealed that the school administration, especially the principal, did not inform any government authorities or the police after the incident involving the death of the minor.

“Accordingly, as per the complaint by the father of the deceased, an FIR has been filed against the school administration and the principal,” the senior cop said.

Giving details of the event, Patel said, “The incident took place between 12:30 pm and 12:45 pm, and approximately 50 minutes later, LG Hospital informed the police. The school management has been questioned about why the parents or any other authorities were not informed immediately after the incident. No response has been received from the management, which shows negligence on the part of the school, leading to the crime being registered against the institution.”

The FIR has been registered under Sections 211 (intentionally failing to provide legally required notice) and 239 (omission to give information about an offense) against the principal of the school, who is the main person responsible for the management of the institution. In the future, others who may have been involved in the crime could also be booked.

ACP Patel also revealed, “The deceased victim’s fellow students, parents, and school staff have been questioned. The murder weapon has been recovered from the minor accused. All evidence, as per scientific methods, is being collected, including available CCTV footage from the school.”

The Crime Branch is conducting a thorough investigation, taking all aspects into account. DeshGujarat
