Messi, Suárez in Jamnagar to visit Anant Ambani’s Vantara

Jamnagar: Argentine football legend and FIFA World Cup winner Lionel Messi arrived in Gujarat’s Jamnagar along with his Inter Miami teammates Luis Suárez and Rodrigo De Paul on Monday evening, after the conclusion of his ongoing ‘GOAT India Tour’ 2025. The star footballers are scheduled to visit Vantara, the wildlife rescue and rehabilitation centre in Jamnagar, where they will stay for a night.

Messi and his teammates will be hosted by Anant Ambani, Director of Reliance Industries Limited and founder of Vantara. Their visit adds to the growing list of global dignitaries who have toured the expansive conservation facility in recent months. Last month, Donald Trump Jr, son of US President Donald Trump, visited Vantara and praised its scale, vision and commitment to wildlife conservation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also previously toured the centre.

Messi reached New Delhi earlier on Monday under high security following a successful event in Mumbai on December 14. His Delhi stop came after visits to Kolkata, Hyderabad and Mumbai as part of the GOAT India Tour. While his Kolkata appearance witnessed some chaos, the Hyderabad and Mumbai events passed off smoothly, drawing massive crowds and enthusiastic chants of “Messi, Messi” from fans.

Located next to the Reliance Jamnagar Refinery Complex, Vantara is a state-of-the-art wildlife rescue, treatment and research facility. Spread over one lakh square feet, the centre has, since its inception, rescued nearly 200 leopards injured in road accidents or human-wildlife conflicts and rehabilitated over 1,000 crocodiles relocated from an overcrowded facility in Tamil Nadu.
