Dumas Sea Face to Open for Public Today; Surat Civic Body to Launch ₹920 Crore Development Projects

Surat: After a long wait, Package-1 of the Dumas Sea Face Development Project is set to open for Surtis today. Union Minister for Jal Shakti C.R. Patil will dedicate several completed development projects worth ₹673.12 crore, including the first phase of the Dumas Sea Face project. In addition, foundation stones will be laid for new development works worth ₹247.80 crore, focusing on road infrastructure, drainage systems, healthcare facilities, and civic amenities across different zones of the city.
The inauguration and foundation-stone-laying ceremony for projects worth over ₹920 crore is scheduled to be held at around 4:30 pm at Dumas Sea Face near the Dariya Ganesh Temple.
Major Projects to be Inaugurated (₹673.12 crore)
Key projects being inaugurated by the Surat Municipal Corporation include major water supply, housing, renewable energy, and urban infrastructure initiatives.
• ₹271.73 crore – Construction of 250 MLD Water Treatment Plant at Variav and 160 MLD membrane-based water treatment plant at Rander, including three years of O&M.
• ₹7.45 crore – 109-lakh-litre RCC Underground Service Reservoir with booster house at Vesu-1.
• ₹9.21 crore – 94.5-lakh-litre RCC Underground Service Reservoir with booster house at Vesu-2 in Athwa zone.
• ₹187.17 crore – Dumas Sea Face Development Project (Package-1).
• ₹70.40 crore – Construction of 792 EWS houses under PMAY at Bhestan (TP Scheme-48) with internal infrastructure and area development.
• ₹55.15 crore – Construction of 588 EWS houses under PMAY at Palanpor-Bhensaan (TP Scheme-9).
• ₹55.10 crore – 6.3 MW Wind Power Plant with associated power evacuation infrastructure.
Other civic projects include community halls, urban health centres, lake garden development, vegetable markets, walkways, sports facilities, and multi-level parking, spread across Limbayat, Central, Athwa, Varachha, and Sarthana zones.
Projects for Foundation Laying (₹247.80 crore)
Foundation stones will also be laid for multiple infrastructure projects, mainly focused on road development, drainage networks, and public facilities.
Major works include:
₹22.64 crore – Development of CC road from Tirupati Circle to NH-53 (Budiya village) in Udhna Zone-A.
₹15.59 crore – Development of Outer Ring Road stretch from Vankla Canal Culvert Junction to Ichhapor-Kavas Junction in Rander zone.
₹14.68 crore – Development of CC overlay road from Simada Naka to Savjikorat Bridge to Mota Varachha Lake.
Additional works include several cement concrete road projects in Udhna-Majura TP schemes and other parts of the South zone, bridge infrastructure including ramp construction at the Simada–Sarthana flyover junction, and drainage projects such as new sewer pumping stations and pipeline networks in expanding city areas.
Projects also include development of urban health centres, yoga studios, sports grounds, vegetable markets, vehicle depots, and public amenities across East, West, and North zones.
With the inauguration of the Dumas Sea Face promenade and the launch of multiple civic projects, the Surat Municipal Corporation aims to strengthen urban infrastructure and enhance public amenities across the rapidly growing city.
The ceremony will be attended by several senior leaders, including Gujarat Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi, Finance Minister Kanubhai Desai, Surat Mayor Dakshesh Mavani, Members of Parliament, MLAs, and senior officials of the state government and Surat Municipal Corporation. DeshGujarat.
