Light Rain Likely Next Week in Parts of Gujarat, Heatwave to Ease: IMD

Ahmedabad: Amid the prevailing heatwave conditions in parts of Gujarat, the latest forecast of the Indian Meteorological Department has come as a relief for the general public but a matter of concern for farmers. The IMD has predicted the possibility of light rain and thundershowers in some districts next week.
The department has forecast a gradual fall of 2°C to 4°C in maximum temperatures during the next three days, after which no major change is expected. Minimum temperatures are also likely to remain stable over the next week. Hot and humid conditions are expected along coastal areas of Gujarat and Saurashtra–Kutch, causing discomfort on March 13.
Rain forecast on March 18–19
Dry weather is likely to continue across the state till March 18.
On March 18, light rain or thundershowers may occur at isolated places in Banaskantha, Patan and Kutch.
On March 19, light rain is likely at isolated places in North Gujarat, South Gujarat and parts of Saurashtra–Kutch, including Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Tapi, Narmada, Chhota Udepur, Kutch, Banaskantha, Patan, Morbi, Botad, Rajkot, Surendranagar, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, as well as Diu.
Heatwave warning
Meanwhile, the IMD has issued a heatwave warning for isolated pockets of Surendranagar, Rajkot and Kutch today, along with hot and humid conditions in coastal districts. No major weather warning has been issued for the following days.
Ahmedabad forecast
For Ahmedabad and nearby areas, the weather department has predicted clear sky conditions, with the maximum temperature likely to touch 39°C and the minimum around 21°C on March 14.
The IMD has advised people to avoid prolonged exposure to heat, stay hydrated and wear light clothing, especially elderly persons, children and those with health conditions. DeshGujarat
