Ahmedabad Records Cooler Day After Showers; Temperatures Drop Below Normal
April 04, 2026
Ahmedabad: Light evening showers on Friday brought relief to the city, capping a relatively cooler day. While most parts of Ahmedabad received moderate rainfall, some eastern areas witnessed strong winds along with brief hail.
As per reports, areas such as Bakrol, Kathwada, Singarva, and parts of Ramol experienced gusty winds and hail along with rain. The day remained relatively cool with high humidity, but the weather changed suddenly around 6 pm. By late evening, the skies had cleared and temperatures settled.
The rainfall was attributed to a Western Disturbance, which also triggered showers in several parts of Gujarat.
Across the state, rainfall activity was recorded in multiple districts. Kalyanpur in Devbhumi Dwarka received 26 mm of rain by 6 pm, followed by Patan-Veraval in Gir Somnath with 25 mm, and Bhavnagar with 17 mm.
Day temperatures dropped across cities, with Ahmedabad recording a maximum of 34.2°C—4.2 degrees below normal. The minimum temperature stood at 24.1°C, which was 1.6 degrees above normal. In most parts of the state, maximum temperatures ranged between 30°C and 35°C.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ahmedabad is likely to witness similar weather on Saturday, with partly cloudy skies. The department also noted the presence of an upper air cyclonic circulation over Gujarat on Friday.
The impact of the current Western Disturbance is expected to weaken from Saturday, reducing the likelihood of significant rainfall. However, another Western Disturbance is likely to affect the region from April 7. DeshGujarat
