AMC seals Fadiyu Garba venue over ₹39 lakh in unpaid rent, deposit
October 15, 2026
Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has sealed its plot near Jagatpur after the organisers of Garba event, Fadiyu, allegedly failed to pay ₹39 lakh in rent and security deposit despite being issued a demand notice.
According to Standing Committee Chairman Kamleshbhai Patel, organiser Ashish Patel had submitted an online application seeking permission to hold a Garba event on the AMC-owned plot. A demand note for ₹39 lakh, covering the security deposit and rent, was subsequently issued.
However, the organiser failed to make the payment despite being given a deadline to clear the dues by the afternoon of October 15.
As the payment remained outstanding, the civic body sealed the plot, the chairman said.
The incident has also raised questions about the functioning of the AMC Estate Department, as the Garba event reportedly took place despite the required payment not being made.
As per the civic body’s procedure, organisers seeking to use municipal plots must pay the prescribed rent and security deposit online and obtain the necessary permissions from the police and fire brigade, along with completing other formalities, before taking possession of the premises.
The event’s reported operation despite the outstanding dues has raised questions about how the organisers were allowed to use the plot before completing the payment and obtaining the required clearances. DeshGujarat
