Valsad: The incidents of leopard attacks are increasing day by day in Gujarat. In the last 24 hours, two incidents of leopard attacks have been reported in Valsad district. In one incident, the owner of the house risked his life to save his family by confronting the leopard. Yesterday in Velwach village of Valsad, a leopard fatally attacked two women who are currently receiving treatment at the hospital. Today, in Kachigam, a leopard entered a house and fatally attacked a sick young man, but his father bravely confronted the leopard, saving their lives.

According to the eyewitnesses, a leopard entered the house of Kishorebhai Dahyabhai Thakor, a retired employee of a power company residing in Patel Paliya of Kachigam village in Umbergaon Taluka of Valsad District, early in the morning. The leopard had entered the room of Kishorebhai’s 31-year-old ailing son, Keyor, located in the back side of the house. Upon hearing the sound of the leopard, Keyor’s father immediately rushed to his room.

The leopard was about to attack Keyor when Kishorebhai confronted it and pushed it into another room. The family raised an alarm, and local people rushed to their aid. The incident was promptly reported to the forest department and the 108 emergency response team.

Both Kishorebhai and his son Keyor sustained injuries and were transported to Sainath Hospital in Dharampur with the assistance of the 108 team. The forest department team, along with veterinary support, worked for four hours to sedate the leopard using a chloroform gun and safely secure it in a cage.

In another incident on Sunday, a leopard entered a house in Velwach village of Valsad and occupied one of the rooms. The family members were outside the house at the time. Upon returning home and opening the door, the daughter spotted the leopard and screamed. As the woman attempted to close the room’s door, the leopard attacked her. In the process, an elderly woman sitting nearby was also attacked. The leopard fled as locals arrived upon hearing the commotion. The incident was reported to the forest department and the 108 team.
