Gujarat govt approves Rs. 417 crore Narmada irrigation scheme for 45 villages of Surendranagar district

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has through a note informed that Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has given administrative approval to a Rs 417 crore scheme to provide Narmada water for irrigation to 45 villages of Dhrangadhra, Muli, and Wadwan talukas in Surendranagar district.
45 villages of these three talukas were not getting the benefit of irrigation water through any branch canal under Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam.
The Chief Minister has given a positive response to the representation made by the MPs and MLAs, public representatives, and local leaders of Surendranagar district in this regard before the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister has given administrative approval to Rs 417 crore for the scheme of supplying water to these 45 villages of Surendranagar district through a pipeline in the planned allocation of additional 1 million acre-feet of Narmada flood water to Saurashtra.
Through this scheme, ponds, check dams, and lakes in these 45 villages of Dhrangadhra, Wadwan, and Muli talukas will be filled with water. As a result of this, irrigation facilities will be strengthened in an area of approximately 3055 hectares. DeshGujarat
