Vadodara-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express trains: Which one is faster, which one is cheaper?

Vadodara: Around two weeks ago, the Prime Minister launched another semi-high-speed Vande Bharat train connecting Gujarat and Maharashtra. The new train between Ahmedabad and Mumbai also connects Vadodara, Surat, Vapi, and Borivali with each other. With the introduction of this second Vande Bharat train, the residents of Vadodara now have an additional semi-high-speed train connecting them to Surat, Vapi, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad. Similar to the previous Gandhinagar-Mumbai Vande Bharat Express, this train takes approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes to travel from Vadodara to Mumbai.
The latest Vande Bharat Express, train number 22962, operates in the morning and departs from Vadodara Station at 7:03 am, reaching Mumbai Central at 11:35 am, with a total ideal travel time of 4 hours and 32 minutes. Meanwhile, the old Vande Bharat Express train number 22902 departs from Vadodara at 3:56 pm and arrives in Mumbai at 8:25 pm, taking a total ideal travel time of 4 hours and 29 minutes.
It is noteworthy that the morning train operates six days a week except on Sundays, while the afternoon train operates six days a week except on Wednesdays.
The fare for a chair car ticket from Vadodara to Mumbai in the morning train (22962) is Rs. 1040, while an executive chair car ticket costs Rs. 1980. Meanwhile, for the afternoon Vande Bharat Express, the cost in AC Chair car is Rs. 1210, and for the Executive Chair car, it is Rs. 2170 for the same route.

The Vande Bharat service running in the afternoon utilizes a blue/white-colored rake, whereas the morning train operates with a new rake in orange/grey colors.
It’s significant to mention that the introduction of the second Vande Bharat Express train on the Ahmedabad – Mumbai route comes as a response to the overwhelming demand, with the initial Vande Bharat experiencing occupancy rates as high as 142 to 146 percent in both directions along this route.
Fast and convenient travel between Vadodara and Ahmedabad
Meanwhile, people wanting to travel from Vadodara to Ahmedabad now have two options with two Vande Bharat trains, as the evening Vande Bharat Express 22961 takes 1 hour and 6 minutes for the journey between Ahmedabad and Vadodara, while the morning Vande Bharat train takes 1 hour and 9 minutes for the same.
The AC Chair Car ticket price for the evening Vande Bharat Express from Vadodara to Ahmedabad is Rs. 650, while Executive Chair Car charges are Rs. 1075. However, the morning Vande Bharat Express is comparatively cheaper as one can travel in an AC Chair Car for Rs. 445 and an Executive Chair Car for Rs. 845. DeshGujarat
