March 20, 2024
Surat: A 14-year-old girl from the Amroli area, who went missing a few days ago, was later found to have fallen victim to human trafficking. It was revealed that a woman, assuming a Hindu identity, abducted the girl and traded her off, even though she was a minor. With the arrest of five individuals, including the woman, harrowing details of the case emerged.
According to the case details, the 14-year-old girl travelled from Vadodara to Surat with her parents, where they encountered a woman named Jyoti. Jyoti remained in contact with the girl and her family thereafter. However, the family was unaware that Jyoti’s real name was Monirakhatun, and her intentions were far from genuine.
Originally from Uttar Pradesh, the 14-year-old girl hailed from a working-class family and contributed financially by assisting in embroidery work. On March 8th, the girl did not return home, and her family initiated a search. Despite their efforts, they found no leads, prompting them to file a kidnapping case at the Amroli police station. However, the girl’s whereabouts remained unknown until she reached out to her brother, who alerted the authorities.
The investigation led the police to Rajasthan, where a shocking revelation unfolded: the girl had been coerced into prostitution. Later, on March 13, the police arrested 26-year-old Monirakhatun, also known as Jyoti Sakil Haldar. Additionally, the police apprehended the alleged mastermind, 28-year-old Saidul Molla Munabbar Molla Salom, along with his 25-year-old wife Mohima Molla, also known as Rhea Saidul Molla Munabbar, 21-year-old Rahul Ramswaroop Tailor, 24-year-old Sameer Salim Qureshi, and 30-year-old Arif Sadiq Khan, all from Rajasthan.
In the interrogation of the accused, a series of revelations emerged. On March 8, the girl was taken to Munira Khatun’s house, where she was lured by the promise of earning 25 to 30 thousand rupees at a beauty parlour. She was threatened that a photo of her dancing in revealing attire would go viral if she did not comply. Later, the girl left Surat with Monira Khatun on a Rajasthan Travellers bus. They arrived in Degana, located in Rajasthan’s Nagor district, where the girl was handed over to Saidul Molla and his wife, Mohima alias Riya.
The girl was confined to a small room, where she was administered stimulant pills. Multiple clients were sent to the girl in the hotel, and she was subjected to torture for five days. She was raped by as many as eight customers. However, one customer showed empathy for her situation. The girl confided in him about her situation, prompting him to lend her his phone. From the hotel room, the girl informed her brother about her whereabouts and urged him to contact the police. The girl’s brother subsequently informed the Amroli police station about the caller’s number.
The police contacted the number and gained the trust of the young man from Rajasthan. Subsequently, a team of Amroli police reached Rajasthan and apprehended the entire gang. One car and DVR were confiscated. Presently, the accused have been remanded until March 21, and the police are conducting further investigations.
The authorities are currently probing who raped the girl in the hotel in Degana, the extent of the involvement of other young women in similar circumstances, and other individuals implicated in the prostitution ring. Additionally, Saidul Molla and his wife, Mohima alias Riya, who coerced the young woman into prostitution, confessed that one Sahib Syed holds a higher position in this illicit business. Consequently, the police are actively searching for Sahib Syed.
