225 kg of spurious ghee seized from a factory in Surat

Surat: In yet another seizure of unsafe and inedible food products, Rander Police today seized a large quantity of spurious ghee.

A ghee factory in the Goga Chowk area of Rander was raided, revealing that spurious ghee was being sold under the logo of a branded ghee. Approximately 225 kg of fake ghee was confiscated from the factory.

It is learned that the factory operator, Raju, had learned the process of making fake ghee while working in a dairy previously. Later, he employed the same technique to produce spurious ghee. Dalda, a type of vegetable oil, was used to make fake ghee by blending it with soybean oil, turmeric powder, and other chemicals. This adulterated ghee was then distributed to various dairies, all bearing the logo of a renowned ghee brand, deceiving consumers into purchasing it at inflated prices.

This development comes just a day after the news of the Surat Municipal Corporation seizing 230 kg of adulterated paneer. A total of 230 kg of cheese was seized from a tempo in Pandesara. It was found that the cheese was sourced from Valsad and then sold to hotels, restaurants, and dairies, and even used in weddings. DeshGujarat
