Mercury crosses 41º Celsius in Gujarat; IMD issues heatwave warning

Ahmedabad: Temperatures soared above the 41º Celsius mark in certain regions of Gujarat, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue warnings of impending heatwave conditions over these areas for the next two days.
Several districts witnessed temperatures above 41º Celsius. The mercury reached 42.8º Celsius in the Ahmedabad airport region, while Ahmedabad as a district saw 41.1º Celsius. Amreli, Gandhinagar, Rajkot, and Surendranagar all experienced temperatures above 41º Celsius.
Meanwhile, the people of Baroda, Deesa, and Narmada had to endure the scorching heat of 40 degrees Celsius.
In its latest bulletin, the IMD stated, “Heatwave conditions are very likely to prevail in isolated pockets in the districts of Saurashtra-Kutch, namely Rajkot and Kutch. Meanwhile, warm conditions are expected at isolated places in the north Gujarat region, namely Banaskantha and Ahmedabad, on March 27th and 28th.”
