Surat Police book 6 for selling fake cosmetic and tobacco products

Surat: The city police apprehended six individuals on Wednesday for peddling counterfeit shampoos, facial creams, and tobacco products bearing the labels of renowned brands. During a raid on a warehouse in Chand Industrial Society at Masma village of Olpad town, authorities confiscated raw materials, finished goods, and packaging equipment valued at Rs 50.16 lakh.
The suspects have been identified as Abdul Hafiz Hiragal, Intekhab Ahmed, Manoj Kumar Yadav, Sandeep Yadav, Rahul Sonkar, and Sunil Nishad. According to the police, the mastermind of this scheme is Abdul Hafiz Hiragal, who is being interrogated to gather more information and ascertain the involvement of others.
It is learned that these accused had leased the warehouse for the past few months and were manufacturing adulterated shampoo, gutkha, and facial creams. They used to sell these items to various retailers in different villages at discounted prices.
The accused have been booked under sections 272, 273, 420, 482, and 120(B) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) after a complaint was filed by Hiren Patel, a resident of Ahmedabad and the proprietor of an intellectual property rights service company. DeshGujarat
