Drink & drive accident claims one life in Vadodara; two injured

Vadodara: A 23-year-old MBA student named Aakash lost his life, and two others were injured when a drunk driver, speeding in his car, collided with two motorcycles and pedestrians at the Akota-Dandia Bazar flyover in the city around 1 am on Friday.
The Akota police station has booked a 24-year-old named Kalp Pandya for alleged culpable homicide not amounting to murder, as well as reckless and negligent driving. Pandya, a mechanical engineer, along with his friend Shristhi Desai, is also booked under the Prohibition Act for possessing alcohol found in his car.
Pandya and Desai have been detained for medical examination, as per the police. Makwana mentioned that the police found a bottle of alcohol and other empty bottles at the scene.
According to the police, the accident occurred when Pandya was purportedly driving the car at a speed exceeding 150 kmph. Pandya, in an inebriated condition, collided with the divider, causing the vehicle to skid towards bystanders. Akash died on the spot, while two injured individuals were identified as Preeti Sharma and Aashta Parikh (20).
The FIR states that Parikh arrived at the location around 11:30 pm with her friend Rasika, who escaped unhurt. According to the police, a few bystanders also sustained minor injuries in the incident. DeshGujarat
