694 kg of adulterated paneer seized from unlicensed factory in Banaskantha

Banaskantha: The Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA) raided Alia Milk Products in the GIDC area of Chhapi on Wednesday for allegedly producing and selling paneer using harmful substances. Officials seized around 694 kg of adulterated paneer.

Acting on a tip-off, officials inspected the facility and uncovered the use of non-food grade acetic acid and palmolein oil in the manufacture of paneer. FDCA Commissioner HG Koshia revealed that the factory owner, Karodiya Umarfarak Abdul Rahman, was operating without a valid food production license.

During the raid, authorities seized 694 kg of loose paneer worth ₹1,66,560, 103 kg of palmolein oil worth ₹15,403, and 118 kg of acetic acid worth ₹12,408, totaling 915 kg of adulterated materials worth ₹1,94,418.

The investigation revealed that palmolein oil was being used in paneer production, while acetic acid was employed to curdle milk. Legal action has been initiated against Rahman and other responsible individuals under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. Koshia added that further investigations are underway to trace the distribution network and identify suppliers operating without food processing licenses. DeshGujarat
