Surat: In a shocking incident in the Vesu area of the city, a Mercedes car was set on fire by an unknown miscreant. The act was caught on CCTV footage, which shows the suspect hurling a flammable liquid on the vehicle before fleeing the scene.

CCTV footage from near the Nilkanth Nivas apartment, close to Shrikrishna Society, captured the moment when unidentified individuals deliberately torched the luxury vehicle parked in the society premises.

Family members rushed out and attempted to extinguish the fire, but by then, the car had already suffered damage estimated to be over ₹1 lakh. The family suspects that the arson was driven by an old personal enmity. The car owner promptly filed a complaint at the Vesu Police Station, urging the authorities to take strict action against the culprit.

According to the police complaint, the attack caused damage exceeding ₹1 lakh. The family alleges that the fire was likely an act of revenge stemming from a past conflict.

Police have launched an investigation based on the CCTV footage to identify the culprits. Although the miscreants attempted to conceal their faces, their appearance, clothing, and the two-wheeler they used are clearly visible in the footage.
