AMC to revamp Law Garden and Mithakhali roads with pedestrian precincts

Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has approved a significant urban infrastructure initiative to redevelop six roads in the Law Garden and Mithakhali areas into precinct zones. The proposal, cleared during a meeting of AMC’s roads and buildings committee, involves a total investment of ₹99.90 crore, with an additional ₹13.02 crore allocated for GST.

As part of the project, a 6.6-km stretch around Law Garden and Mithakhali will be upgraded with pedestrian-friendly footpaths, dedicated parking areas, landscaped walkways, vending zones, gazebos, benches, sculptures, and improved lighting systems, including theme lighting and road signage.

This will be the first precinct development carried out under AMC’s 2025–26 budget. The budget outlines plans to redevelop 38 km of metro precincts by upgrading 20 key roads at an estimated cost of ₹270 crore. Similar themed zones are also planned near heritage sites, entertainment districts, hospitals, educational campuses, sports venues, and cultural landmarks. DeshGujarat
