Gujarat University to launch six online courses from September
August 30, 2025
Ahmedabad: Gujarat University will launch six online courses from September, with academic sessions scheduled to begin on November 15, marking its formal entry into digital education after approval from the UGC’s Distance Education Bureau.
The first phase includes three undergraduate and three postgraduate programmes — BA in English, BCA, BCom, MSc in Mathematics, MA in English, and MCom. Officials said the intake capacity for online courses will be nearly three times that of offline classes, with enrolments open to students across India and abroad. The entire admission, teaching, examination, and result process will be conducted online.
Under the National Education Policy, students pursuing offline degrees can simultaneously enrol in one of these programmes to earn an additional qualification. To support the rollout, the government has sanctioned the recruitment of 40 teaching and non-teaching staff, with hiring now in its final stages. Although Gujarat University was the first state university to receive UGC approval for online courses, the launch was delayed due to the time needed to set up digital infrastructure. DeshGujarat
