Gujarat University makes internships compulsory for final-year students
November 14, 2025
Ahmedabad: Gujarat University (GU) has made internships compulsory for students in its affiliated colleges. All students in arts, commerce, and science, particularly those in their fifth and sixth semesters, are required to undergo internships, and the university has asked the colleges to furnish data about eligible students and their preferences.
This decision aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP), which requires all students to complete a 120-hour internship during their final semester to gain practical exposure.
Accordingly, commerce students shall intern with chartered accountants, company secretaries, or businesses; science students shall gain exposure in labs, industries, or research organizations; and for students of the arts faculty, internships shall align with their subjects.
Faculty deans will be responsible for organizing and overseeing the programs, while colleges can also propose their own internship arrangements. GU is also in talks with the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) and agencies at the Atal-Kalam Centre on campus to expand internship opportunities. DeshGujarat
