Gujarat hotels federation pitches 5% discount to diners who avoid food wastage
December 27, 2025
Ahmedabad: In a bid to tackle food wastage, the Gujarat State Hotel Federation (GSHF) has launched a new campaign encouraging responsible dining habits across the state. Under the initiative, customers who finish all the food they order will be rewarded with a 5% discount on their bill.
Initially, the discount will be offered by member hotels and restaurants on Sundays, when dining establishments typically see the highest footfall. Depending on public response, the Federation plans to extend the offer to all days of the week.
To promote awareness, hotels and restaurants will display banners and stickers highlighting the campaign. Speaking to the media, Federation Chief Kirit Patel said, “If a customer comes with their family, orders only what they need, and finishes their meal without wastage, they should be given a 5% discount. We are informing all our member hotels to place boards, banners, and stickers regarding this initiative.”
The Federation hopes this incentive will gradually foster a culture of responsible consumption, benefiting both restaurants and the community at large. DeshGujarat
