Gujarat Plans 2.10 Lakh Direct Recruitments Over 10 Years Through GPSC: Minister

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government plans to undertake direct recruitment for more than 2.10 lakh posts over the next decade through the Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC), Minister Ishwar Singh Patel informed the Legislative Assembly.
Replying to questions in the House, Patel stated that over the past two years, the General Administration Department has sent requisitions to GPSC for a total of 306 Class-1 and Class-2 posts. Of these, 73 posts were referred in 2024 and 233 posts in 2025.
The preliminary and main examinations for 240 of these posts have already been completed. The results are expected to be declared shortly, after which the interview process will commence.
10-Year Recruitment Calendar Published
To ensure continuity and transparency in government hiring, the state government has published a 10-year recruitment calendar covering the period from 2024 to 2033. Under this roadmap, direct recruitment will be carried out for 2,10,582 posts across various cadres.
The Minister further informed that appointment letters were issued to more than 30,000 candidates in the past year alone, reflecting the government’s accelerated recruitment drive.
Vacancies Being Filled at Senior Administrative Levels
Patel also highlighted efforts to fill vacancies at higher administrative levels. As per current data:

In Class-1, 7,535 posts have been filled against 13,803 sanctioned posts.

In Class-2, 22,857 posts have been filled against 34,335 sanctioned posts.
He said the government is actively working to bridge the gap between sanctioned and filled positions to strengthen governance and service delivery.
Special Drive for Differently-Abled Candidates
Emphasising inclusive recruitment, the Minister said the government has launched a special campaign to fill reserved vacancies, particularly for differently-abled candidates. The process to fill backlog and reserved posts in various categories is currently underway.
The Minister said the state government is moving ahead with firm resolve to realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of harnessing India’s demographic dividend by creating meaningful government employment opportunities for youth.
