PM Modi Inaugurates Micron’s Semiconductor Plant in Sanand, Gujarat

Sanand: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Gujarat today and is inaugurating Micron’s Semiconductor Assembly, Test and Packaging (ATMP) facility in Sanand.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Ahmedabad at around 3 pm and travelled to Sanand by helicopter. Upon arrival, he held a roadshow ahead of the scheduled event.

The launch marks the start of commercial production and shipment of the first made-in-India semiconductor memory modules from the Sanand facility, a key milestone in India’s semiconductor manufacturing journey.

Approved under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) with an outlay of over ₹22,500 crore, the project had its ground-breaking in September 2023. The facility will feature around 500,000 sq ft of cleanroom space once fully ramped up, making it one of the world’s largest raised-floor cleanrooms.

The plant will convert advanced DRAM and NAND wafers into finished memory and storage products for global markets, strengthening India’s role in the semiconductor value chain. DeshGujarat
