PM Modi Likely to Visit Gujarat for VGRC; Roadshow Being Planned

Surat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit his home state of Gujarat next month for the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC), scheduled to begin on May 1, which coincides with Gujarat Foundation Day.

Business and industry stakeholders across South Gujarat are optimistic ahead of the two-day event, with a roadshow by the Prime Minister also being planned in the run-up to the conference.

The conference will be hosted at AURO University, with officials citing its capacity to accommodate both indoor and open-format events as a key factor behind the venue selection. Similar regional conferences have already been held in Mehsana for North Gujarat and in Rajkot for the Saurashtra-Kutch region, the latter of which was also attended by the Prime Minister.

The South and Central Gujarat edition will cover 16 districts and is expected to be hosted in Surat, with industry stakeholders anticipating new partnerships and investment opportunities.

Dinesh Navadiya, chairman of the Indian Diamond Institute, said the event would be significant for the industry in the region, adding that the Prime Minister’s visit would provide an additional boost.

The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry also expressed optimism, stating that the VGRC is likely to generate new business opportunities and may see key announcements if the Prime Minister attends.

Although no official announcement has been made by the Prime Minister’s Office or the state government, the visit is considered likely as it would come after the conclusion of local civic body polls. DeshGujarat
