Class-1 Officer Alleges Fungus-Infected Pav Delivered via Zepto in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: A fresh case has emerged, raising concerns about the hygiene and safety of food products ordered on online delivery platforms. In this case, Yogendra Kumar Ojha, a Class-1 officer posted at the Gujarat High Court and residing near Sughad in Gandhinagar, has alleged that he received fungus-infected bread (pav) through the quick-commerce platform Zepto.

According to details, Ojha had ordered bread and other items via the app. Upon delivery, he found the bread to be mouldy and emitting a foul smell. When he raised the issue with the delivery personnel, he was informed that the product had been sourced from a Zepto store located in Motera.

Unsatisfied with the response, Ojha traced the store address through the app and visited the outlet. However, he alleged that the staff present failed to provide a clear explanation and attempted to evade responsibility. Following this, he contacted emergency services by dialling 112 and subsequently lodged a formal complaint with the Chandkheda police station, as well as with the food department, against the store management and operators.

Despite the complainant being a senior government official and informing the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and the concerned food safety authorities, no concrete action or inspection had reportedly been initiated at the time of reporting.

Ojha, in his complaint, stated that such negligence poses a direct threat to public health and called for strict action against those responsible. The case has sparked broader concerns about accountability in the rapidly growing online food delivery ecosystem. DeshGujarat
