10 villages in Gujarat practice 100% drip-sprinkler irrigation

10 villages in Gujarat have adopted 100% drip and sprinkler irrigation systems to water crops. The villages are:Ghodial(Vadgam), Sherpura(Deesa), Lakshmipura Kampa(Khedbrahma), Dolpur Kampa(Dhansura), Machhipura(Sankheda), Od(Anand), Babalpura Kampa(Dehgam), Bhairav(Kamrej), Jhaghadiya(Bharuch) and Kuchhadi(Porbandar).
According to Agriculture department officials in Gandhinagar, all these 10 villages have doubled their annual agricultural production after adopting drip and sprinkler irrigation systems.
According to figures available at Gujarat Green Revolution Company floated by the state government, more than 93,000 farmers in Gujarat have adopted drip irrigation for their total 1.51 lakh hectare land. 29,235 of them have been benefited by Gujarat Energy Development Corporation scheme by getting a new electricity connection.
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi had recently expressed a wish to visit a village where 100% drip/sprinkler irrigation is in practice.
