Jagdish Thakkar appointed PRO to Prime Minister Office

Ahmedabad, 8 June, 2014

Jagdishbhai Thakkar, who has been Public Relation Officer(PRO) in Gujarat Chief Minister’s office since 1986 has been now appointed as PRO in Prime Minister’s office.
In Gujarat, Jagdishbhai would be seen sitting in a corner with piece of paper and pen during most of the important government meetings chaired by CM. He would write a brief report of meeting in Gujarati for the state information department. The note would later circulated by information department to media. Jagdishbhai was seen accompanying Narendra Modi in most of the functions like a shadow when Modi was Chief Minister of Gujarat. He would take his seat in one of the cars in Modi’s convoy and later seat in public in a function, again with a piece of paper and pen to note down important points of Modi’s speech. In Delhi, Jagdishbhai was first spotted accompanying Narendrabhai at Rajghat – the place Narendrabhai visited on the morning of his swearing-in function.
It has to be mentioned here that Jagdishbhai has not been appointed PRO to Prime Minister(PM), but PRO to Prime Minister Office(PMO). So he is not another Baru or Pachauri. It seems Narendrabhai may avoid appointing someone as media adviser. Jagdishbhai is completely opposite person to likes of Pachauri and Baru, former PRO of PM. Jagdishbhai is extremely low profile, he is approachable, he would never give a chance to controversy, he is silent, he is a man of procedures and framework directed/fixed by Mr. Modi, and the most important thing – he knows what is right thing to do and what Mr. Modi would dislike.
