After deciding to withdraw 74 cases related to Patidar reservation stir, the Chief Minister has also instructed the concerned authorities in the home department to make a case by case study of the remaining cases for paving way to withdrawal of more such cases, state government spokesperson and health minister Nitin Patel said here today.
He said that the chief minister has given instruction to the home department for a case by case study. ‘More such cases which were not grave in nature would most likely be withdrawn in coming time,’ he said.
To a query the minister however said that the cases against the remaining 14 who were still behind bars including PAAS leader Hardik Patel and his aides were grave in nature.
Earlier on January 2 the chief minister had instructed to withdraw 74 of the total 457 cases across 18 districts of Gujarat. In the 74 cases of comparatively lighter nature there are a total of 382 accused.
The statement of Mr. Patel has come on a day when a high level meeting was said to have been convened to discuss the issue.
Leaders of Patel or Patidar community are likely to meet the chief minister again tomorrow.
