October 31, 2022
Sabarmati: Sabarmati Riverfront Development Corporation Ltd (SRFDCL) has today announced a decision that it will allow a maximum of 3,000 visitors only per hour on Atal bridge.
SRFDCL in its note stated that the decision to limit the number of visitors per hour on Atal bridge has been taken in view of the Morbi hanging bridge tragedy that took place a day ago.
SRFDCL informed that Atal bridge has the technical capacity to host 12,000 visitors at a time. However now onward, per hour maximum of only 3,000 visitors will be allowed entry so that the visitors may have a safer experience of Atal bridge.
SRFDCL has sought the cooperation of people if they are denied entry after 3,000 capacity is reached on the bridge.
140-year-old hanging bridge over river Machhu collapsed yesterday at around 6.30 pm. Over 140 persons are dead in this incident.
