Thanks to efforts by Gujarat Police, a youth rescued from abductors in Africa

Junagadh: Gujarat Police have through their efforts rescued Farhan Parmar, a Gujarat-origin youth, from kidnappers in Africa. Farhan was held captive, and a demand of 80 lakhs was made to his Mangrol, Gujarat-based family for his release. However, the Junagadh Police collaborated with the Ministry of External Affairs and secured his release.

Originally from Mangarol, Farhan Parmar had been working in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, for four and a half years without encountering any issues. He had planned to return home in June after his prolonged stint abroad, a decision he had already shared with his family.

However, amidst this anticipation, Farhan’s father, Munaf Parmar, received a threatening phone call. Munaf was informed that his son, Farhan, was in the custody of kidnappers who demanded a ransom of Rs 80 lakh for his safe return. Alarmed by this distressing situation, Munaf sought assistance from the Junagadh police.

Promptly, Junagadh Police Chief Harshad Mehta initiated communication with the Ministry of External Affairs. The police personnel from Mangarol Police Station, DySP, the former SP, and Range IG collectively coordinated with both state and central government authorities, recognizing the severity of the situation. Through their concerted efforts, the Junagadh police ultimately secured Farhan’s release. On August 11, Farhan safely returned home.
