IAS Pankaj Joshi appointed as new Chief Secretary of Gujarat; to take charge from 31st January

Gandhinagar: The year 1989 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Pankaj Joshi has been selected as the new Chief Secretary of Gujarat. The current Chief Secretary Rajkumar is set to retire on January 31. Pankaj Joshi will succeed him as the next Chief Secretary.
Pankaj Joshi is currently serving in the Chief Minister’s Office as Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister.He was appointed on this post on 15-09-2021. Joshi previously served on various posts including the post of Municipal Commissioner, Secretary, Principal Secretary and more.
Hailing from Nainital in Uttarakhand, a 19-10-1965 born Pankaj Joshi is B.Tech (Civil Engg.) M.Tech (Water Resource Engg.) I.I.T. New Delhi M.Phil (Defence & Stratagic Studies) by education.
He was appointed as IAS on 21-08-1989. If he doesn’t get extension, his retirement will be in October 2025. After current Chief Secretary Raj Kumar, Pankaj Joshi is the second senior most IAS officer of Gujarat cadre at present, followed by Srinivas Katikithala, Sunaina Tomar, Kamal Dayani and Manoj Kumar Das. There are bright chances of Manoj Kumar Das taking over from Pankaj Joshi later this year or in case of extention, in the next year. DeshGujarat
