16,000 kg suspicious ghee worth Rs 79 lakh seized in Chhatral GIDC

Gandhinagar: Acting on a tip-off about the adulteration in ghee, the Gandhinagar team of the Food and Drug Regulatory Authority investigated a suspected firm today in the city. During the raid, the FDA team seized suspected ghee valued at Rs. 79 lakhs, weighing over 16,000 kg, as stated by Dr. H. G. Koshia, the Commissioner of Food and Drug Regulatory Authority.
According to the information, at Chhatral GIDC, the Food and Drug Regulatory Authority team found tins of vegetable ghee along with regular ghee during searches at M/s Swagat Products in Chhatral GIDC. Suspecting that the adulterated ghee was being sold in the market, the team took 15 samples of ghee in the presence of Mr. Jigarbhai Patel, the owner of the firm. The remaining suspicious quantity of ghee, worth Rs. 79 lakhs and weighing 16,159 kg, was seized on the spot.
Dr. Koshia mentioned that legal action would be taken after the analysis report confirms the unhealthiness of these food items. Further detailed investigations are ongoing in this matter. DeshGujarat
