March 05, 2024
Sabarmati: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat today nabbed an Assistant Police Constable working at Sabarmati G.U.V.N.L. Police Station in a bribery case involving a sum of Rs. 5,000.
According to the case details, a case of electricity theft was registered against the complainant’s father in the year 2020. In this case, the accused, Pushpendrasingh Chandawat, posted as an Assistant Police Constable at Sabarmati G.U.V.N.L. Police Station on 13/12/2023, went with a notice to the complainant’s home, demanding payment of Rs. 1,27,242 within seven days. As the plaintiff was unable to pay the large amount immediately, the accused suggested sending the case to Lok Adalat and not harassing the complainant in exchange for a bribe of Rs. 10,000, which was later settled at Rs. 5,000.
The complainant, unwilling to pay the bribe, contacted the ACB and filed a complaint. Today, a bribe trap was set, and during the operation, the accused accepted the bribe money from the complainant and was caught red-handed. The accused is currently detained. DeshGujarat
