March 06, 2026
Vadodara: A woman was seriously injured after she was allegedly attacked with a cricket bat by a neighbour following a dispute over a pet dog in the Manjalpur area of Vadodara. The incident occurred in the Maruti Dham Housing Board Colony, and the injured woman was rushed to SSG Hospital in a bleeding condition for treatment.
Police have detained the accused dog owner and initiated further investigation. The accused, identified as Deeprajsinh Chauhan, lives in the same housing colony and reportedly used to let his pet dog defecate inside the society premises, causing inconvenience to residents.
The incident occurred on March 5, when guests had arrived at the house of Vikasbhai, a resident of the colony. At the time, Chauhan was allegedly seen allowing his dog to defecate near Vikasbhai’s residence. When Vikasbhai’s wife questioned him and asked why he was letting the dog dirty the area, an argument broke out.
The dispute escalated when Chauhan allegedly brought a cricket bat from his house and attacked the woman. The blow was so severe that she sustained serious injuries and began bleeding from the mouth.
Family members immediately called 108 emergency services, and the injured woman was shifted to SSG Hospital for treatment.
After being alerted, Manjalpur police reached the spot, detained the accused, and started an investigation. Police are also examining allegations that Chauhan threatened to kill the woman during the altercation.
The victim’s husband, Vikasbhai Veer, alleged that the neighbour regularly allowed his dog to defecate in front of their house, creating unhygienic conditions and posing a risk to children playing in the area. Police said further action will be taken based on the investigation. DeshGujarat
