AMTS Bus Gutted in Fire in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: A fire broke out in an AMTS bus in the Paldi area early Friday morning, completely gutting the vehicle. No injuries were reported in the incident as passengers were safely evacuated in time.

According to preliminary information, the 3-year-4-month-old CNG bus manufactured by Eicher, operating on AMTS Route No. 35, was going from Lal Darwaja to Bavla. When the bus stopped near Jain Merchant Bus Stand at Mahalaxmi Crossroads in Paldi to pick up passengers, smoke suddenly started coming out of the engine bonnet.

Sensing danger, the driver immediately switched off the ignition and stopped the bus, while the conductor quickly evacuated all passengers. Soon after, the smoke turned into flames and the fire started spreading from the engine section.

Passengers were safely brought down before the fire engulfed the bus, averting a major accident. Attempts were made to control the fire using fire extinguishers available in the bus and from other buses coming from behind, but the flames continued to spread.

After being informed, the fire brigade team reached the spot and brought the blaze under control by spraying water. The engine portion, front show panel, roof ceiling, and the front four seats of the bus were damaged in the fire.

Local MLA Amit Shah also reached the spot after being informed about the incident. Officials said no casualties were reported. DeshGujarat
