Kesar Mango Season Kicks Off at Talala; 10K Boxes Arrive on Day 1
April 20, 2026
Talala: The new season of Kesar mango, known as the prized “nectar” of the Talala panthak, was officially launched on Sunday at the Talala Marketing Yard, drawing an enthusiastic response from farmers and traders.
On the opening day, arrivals reached around 10,400 boxes (10 kg each), generating optimism among stakeholders. During the auction, premium-quality Kesar mangoes fetched up to ₹1,250 per box, while lower-grade produce was traded at around ₹450 per box.
Farmers, however, indicated that this year’s crop has been delayed and overall production is expected to be lower compared to last season. For comparison, the yard had recorded arrivals of 14,500 boxes on the first day last year, with prices touching ₹1,500 per box. This year has seen a marginal decline in both arrivals and prices.
A large number of mango traders and fruit merchants from across Saurashtra gathered at the Talala Yard to procure the famed Kesar mango, marking a strong start to the trading season.
Special Bid for Gaushalas
Continuing its long-standing tradition, the Talala Marketing Yard inaugurated the season with a symbolic offering dedicated to Gaumata. Five prominent local trading firms placed special bids for the first box in the auction, collectively contributing ₹57,770. The amount will be donated towards the upkeep of cattle at various gaushalas. DeshGujarat
