Schedule of Rajya Sabha Election for Four Seats of Gujarat Announced
May 22, 2026
Gandhinagar: Elections for four Rajya Sabha seats from Gujarat will be held on June 18 as part of the nationwide Rajya Sabha polls for 24 seats across 10 states.
The elections are necessitated due to the retirement of sitting members Rambhai Mokariya, Narhari Amin, Shaktisinh Gohil and Ramilaben Bara, whose terms end on June 21.
Going by the current strength of political parties in the Gujarat Assembly, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party is comfortably placed to win all four seats.
The development is significant for the Indian National Congress, as the party is going to lose its only Rajya Sabha seat from Gujarat, currently held by Shaktisinh Gohil. Congress will have no representation from Gujarat in the Upper House of Parliament for the first time in the state’s political history.
Given the BJP’s numerical advantage, the election could also go unopposed and who is going to Rajya Sabha will be clear much before the polling date on 8th June itself which is the last date of filing nominations.
While the last date of making nominations is 8th June, the last date for withdrawal of candidatures is 11 June. DeshGujarat
