Who is Mansinh Parmar, upcoming Rajya Sabha Member of BJP from Gujarat?

Gandhinagar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated Mansinh Parmar as one of its candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections from Gujarat. An OBC leader from Gir Somnath district, Parmar has held several organisational positions within the BJP and has been associated with the party’s youth wings for more than two decades.

Born on August 11, 1980, Parmar hails from Gir Somnath district and belongs to the Karadiya Rajput community, which falls under the OBC category. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Nirma Institute of Technology, Ahmedabad, completed an LL.B. in 2022, and is currently pursuing an LL.M.

Parmar currently serves as the President of the BJP OBC Morcha in Gujarat. His political journey began with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), where he was an active member between 1999 and 2004. In 2002, he was elected as an ABVP-backed Senate member representing the Engineering Faculty of Gujarat University.

Over the years, Parmar rose steadily through the ranks of the BJP’s youth organisation. He served as President of the Sutrapada Taluka BJP Yuva Morcha from 2005 to 2007, Vice President of the Junagadh District BJP Yuva Morcha from 2008 to 2010, and State Vice President of the BJP Yuva Morcha between 2010 and 2012. He also worked as an observer for the Rajkot city and Amreli district units of the Yuva Morcha.

Parmar actively participated in several political outreach campaigns, including the India First Campaign in Jammu and Kashmir in 2011 and the Kishan Hit Yatra led by R.C. Faldu across Saurashtra and North Gujarat in 2012. He later served as a member of the BJP Yuva Morcha’s State Executive Committee from 2012 to 2014.

Apart from party responsibilities, Parmar served as Director of the Nehru Yuva Kendra, Gir Somnath, from 2015 to 2017. He was also a member of the Gir Somnath District Panchayat from 2015 to 2020 and served as the District General Secretary (Mahamantri) of the BJP’s Gir Somnath unit between 2016 and 2020.

In 2020, Parmar was appointed President of the BJP’s Gir Somnath district unit, further consolidating his position within the party organisation. In the 2022 Gujarat Assembly elections, he was fielded by the BJP as its candidate from the Somnath Assembly constituency.

Given the BJP’s strength in the Gujarat Assembly, Parmar, along with the party’s three other nominated candidates, is set to be elected to the Rajya Sabha later this month. DeshGujarat
