Ahmedabad Traffic Police to use AI dashcam-equipped vehicles to issue e-memos

Ahmedabad: To address traffic rule violations, the city police will now be using AI-based dashcams. The traffic police in Ahmedabad have equipped 32 vehicles and 28 police constables with mobile “Dash Cams.” All of these cameras are AI-based and will automatically capture three types of violations: (1) riders without helmets, (2) dangerous driving, and (3) drivers without seat belts.

When activated, the AI-based cameras will record incidents such as helmetless riders, wrong-side driving, or triple riding. The AI system will capture photos of these violations, which will be sent to the control room for verification. Upon confirmation, a memo with details of the violation and the fine amount will be sent via text message to the vehicle owner. The violator will receive the memo by the evening of the day the violation occurred.

Additionally, 28 traffic police officers have been provided with AI-based mobile phones and tripods. These officers will be stationed at various traffic points across the city. The mobile phones will activate the AI system to generate memos for violations. These memos will also be verified by the control room, and text messages will be sent to vehicle owners accordingly.

This new AI system is expected to reduce confrontations between the police and the public, as violations will now be recorded automatically, ensuring impartial enforcement of traffic rules. DeshGujarat
