14 Lakh+ Ride Ahmedabad Metro During Navratri, Boosting GMRC Revenue
October 06, 2025
Ahmedabad: This year, Ahmedabad Metro witnessed an unprecedented rush during Navratri. From September 22 to October 1, a total of 14,20,058 passengers traveled, generating revenue of ₹1.75 crore. This rush can be attributed to the extension of Metro service timings until 2 AM during September 26 to October 1 to accommodate the festival crowd.
The festive season saw a remarkable passenger turnout, marking one of the highest footfalls recorded so far on Ahmedabad Metro. Stations near major Garba grounds—including Riverfront, Maninagar, Thaltej, Helmet Four Roads, Vastral, Apparel Park Khokhra, and Vejalpur—experienced heavy movement throughout the day.
After Garba events that went on late at night, large numbers of young people, families, and tourists relied on metro services to return home.
According to Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation Limited (GMRC) officials, several measures were taken to ensure smooth operations: train timings were extended, additional security and guidance staff were deployed at stations, and passengers were offered multiple digital ticket purchasing options in addition to ticket counters.
