Re. 1 payment per Kg. cow dung; Guv Inaugurated Banas-Suzuki Bio-CNG plant in Banaskantha

Palanpur: Governor Acharya Devvrat inaugurated the Banas Bio-CNG-Banas Model Plant established by Banas Dairy at Bhukhla in Vadgam taluka by unveiling a plaque. The Governor visited the biogas plant and obtained detailed information about the use of waste potato, the process of making natural fertilizer and the functioning of the entire plant including the gas purification unit.

A joint venture between Suzuki India and Banas Dairy has put Bio-CNG into operation at Bhukhla in Vadgam, Banaskantha. This biogas plant processes approximately 1 lakh kg of cow dung per day and produces 1900 kg of Bio-CNG per day. Bio-CNG is made available at a rate of Rs. 2 less than the market price through an onsite CNG pump. Certified solid and liquid organic fertilizers called “Bhoomi Amrit” are prepared from the slurry produced from the plant, which improves soil health and reduces dependence on chemical fertilizers. This project reduces carbon emissions, giving a boost to the cow-based economy. This plant will truly be known as the “Banas Model” for the sustainable development of Banaskantha, environmental protection, and overall welfare of farmers.

On this occasion, Governor Shri Acharya Devvrat said that natural farming is the right direction for a healthy future for the earth, farmers and the coming generation. Today, heaps of cow dung are seen in every village, which is harmful to the environment. Scientific reports have shown that methane gas produced from cow dung is 25 to 30 times more harmful than carbon dioxide. In such a situation, cow dung-based bio-CNG plants will play an important role in environmental protection and will also increase the income of farmers.

On this occasion, the Speaker of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly, Shankarbhai Chaudhary said that the country’s White Revolution started from the land of Banaskantha and today a new revolution based on cow dung is starting from the same land. The inauguration of this Bio-CNG plant is a matter of pride for Banaskantha. Under this project, cow dung will be purchased from farmers at the rate of Rs. 1 per kg and all the expenses of collecting and transporting cow dung will be borne by Banas Dairy, due to which the farmers will get additional income from cow dung in addition to milk.
