AMC proposes ₹2,000 crore for new elevated corridors, flyovers and ROBs in Draft Budget 2026

Ahmedabad: In a major push for flyovers and elevated corridors, the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC), in its Draft Budget for the year 2026–27, has proposed elevated corridors worth Rs 1,000 crore. Two elevated corridors proposed by the civic body include stretches from Nehrunagar–Shivranjani–Ramdevnagar Junction–Iskon Bridge, and another corridor from Bopal S.P. Ring Road to Ghuma.

Additionally, under the “Phatak Mukt Abhiyan”, AMC plans to construct five Railway Over Bridges (ROBs) at key railway crossings, with an estimated cost of Rs 775 crore. These include projects near Geratpur Station (LC 300), Vatva–Vinzol (LC 305), Punitnagar (LC 307), Maninagar (LC 308), and LC 28 Sarkhej.

The Draft budget also includes three flyover bridges worth Rs 225 crore, proposed at Memco Junction, Bhakti Circle–Kathwada Junction (across the AUDA Ring Road), and Silver Star Junction.

Additional projects include two railway underpasses (Rs 50 crore), one road underpass connecting the Sabarmati Riverfront to Airport Circle (Rs 30 crore), and two minor bridge projects worth Rs 45 crore at Pirana–Piplaj Road and near Vastral Metro Station.

AMC has also set aside Rs 100 crore for shifting utilities and strengthening works along bridge alignments. Creative redevelopment projects have been proposed for the Kalupur area and HSR area, each receiving Rs 25 crore.

Further, AMC has allocated Rs 272 crore for the renovation of the existing Subhash Bridge and the construction of new 2+2-lane bridges on both sides.

With these large-scale investments, AMC aims to transform Ahmedabad’s mobility landscape by developing modern roads, pedestrian infrastructure, elevated corridors, and upgraded bridges to meet the demands of a rapidly growing urban population. DeshGujarat
