‘Scribe’ Held for Extorting ₹1 Lakh from Woman in Gandhinagar Village

Gandhinagar: A ‘journalist’ associated with a small-time magazine has been arrested, while three others have been named in an extortion case after a woman alleged she was repeatedly threatened over a video recorded at her hut in a village near Kalol in Gandhinagar district.
According to the complaint, three men visited her hut on December 10, 2025, posing as journalists. They allegedly recorded a video showing liquor pouches and threatened to make it viral.
The woman claimed the men forcibly took ₹40,000 from her and warned that they would return on the 10th of every month to collect the same amount.
She further alleged that two days later, two of the accused returned with two additional men, claiming they were also journalists and demanding payment. On that occasion, they reportedly took ₹25,000. The following day, one of the accused allegedly came back alone and took another ₹15,000.
According to the complaint, the woman has paid the accused more than ₹1 lakh so far. DeshGujarat
