Shri Somnath, DeshGujarat

On its biggest day of the year, on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri, Shri Somnath mandir today opened at 4.00 am with puja.It proceeded with aarti, flag hoisting, noon aarti, shringar darshan(oil lamps) and evening aarti.

Lakhs of devotees joined the festivity with non-stop 40 hours of Shiv jap.

Organizers had arranged special farali food and water in a campus near the stage.

Badhda based Usha Maiya ashram, Maa parivar, Hariom Seva Mandal and Bhavnesh Gupta from Aligarh offer free meal, faral, tea and drinking water to all visitors on Maha Shivratri for last 15 years. A devotee Pareshbhai Tanti offered flowers from Bengalore to Shivji.

Toll free helpline, three control rooms, shoes house, clock room, special counter for puja and donations, LED screen to relay aarti and shangar, free distribution of masks for protection against swine flu are other highlights of arrangements here.

350 jap of Maha mritinjay yagna, 452 rudrabhishek, 16 dhaja rohan took place on Maha Shivratri day.

Folk artists Vikram Gadhvi, Aditya Gadhvi, Rekhaben Vala, Sukhdev Dhameliya etc catered Lok Dayro on this occasion.
