March 05, 2026
Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) today announced that the location of the proposed Lotus Park project has been shifted. Earlier, the Lotus Park was set to be built on SG Highway in Gota ward, but now the park will come up at Dhatla Lake in Shela in Sarkhej Ward of the South-West Zone. The estimated project cost has also increased to ₹128.82 crore, according to the latest municipal press release.
The project will now be developed on Final Plot No. 1148 of TP Scheme No. 204 (Sarkhej–Okaf–Makraba–Vejalpur–Ambli) at Dhatla Lake (Ghatlodia Lake). The park will come up on a 12,445 sq. metre plot and will be designed in the shape of a lotus flower.
AMC stated that the park will showcase flowers from all Indian states at a single location, with each section representing the floral identity of a particular state. A floral museum will also be developed within the park where flowers from different countries will be displayed.
The civic body said the project aims to enhance the beautification of the heritage and surrounding areas, while also offering facilities such as floral displays and a themed amusement space. Once completed, the park is expected to become a new attraction for residents and visitors.
Earlier, AMC had proposed the Lotus Park project near Dev City on S.G. Highway in Gota Ward, covering around 25,000 sq. metres, with an estimated cost of ₹75–80 crore and an initial ₹20 crore allocation in the municipal budget. DeshGujarat
