Minor Temperature Drop Offers Brief Relief from Heat in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: A slight easing in heat was recorded in parts of Gujarat as maximum temperatures dipped marginally on Sunday, offering limited relief from recent hot conditions. In Ahmedabad, the mercury dropped from 41.9°C on Saturday to 40.0°C, bringing it closer to the seasonal normal. However, nights remained warmer, with the minimum temperature at 26.9°C—about 2.6°C above normal.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature in Ahmedabad is likely to hover around 40°C on Monday. The broader state forecast suggests no significant change in maximum temperatures over the next seven days, with isolated pockets expected to continue witnessing highs around 40°C.
Across Gujarat, several cities reported near-normal or slightly below-normal daytime temperatures. Gandhinagar recorded 39.5°C (−1.0°C), Bhavnagar 37.8°C (−0.4°C), and Deesa 38.5°C (−0.4°C). Kandla and Naliya also saw relatively lower readings at 34.8°C (−0.7°C) and 34.0°C (−1.1°C), respectively.
At the same time, some regions continued to experience above-normal heat. Rajkot emerged as the hottest city at 40.9°C (+1.5°C), while Surat recorded 38.6°C (+2.1°C) and Bhuj 39.4°C (+0.8°C).
Coastal areas remained comparatively milder, with Dwarka at 30.6°C and Veraval at 32.3°C. Humidity levels were moderate to high, especially in coastal belts, with morning relative humidity reaching up to 80% in some locations.
Meanwhile, parts of South Gujarat and coastal Saurashtra witnessed light showers on Sunday. The IMD has forecast light rain activity in Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Amreli, and Bhavnagar on Tuesday and Wednesday. DeshGujarat
